The desire for an unobtrusive presence which aims to underline and highlight the synagogue in the entire composition, gives birth to the idea for the construction of a new building that is submerged underground, in a way that does not disrupt the spatial perception of the cultural monument. The lack of space in the property leads to the construction of an underground structure which fulfills the need for a new history museum space in the city of Samokov. Natural lighting to the foyer is provided through open space – terrace on the subterrain level, where a direct connection is provided to the terrain. This connection is made possible thanks to a landscape staircase.
