The project for the Samokov Synagogue focuses on the preservation and activation of a building of exceptional cultural and historical value. As a nationally listed cultural heritage monument, the synagogue is approached with respect for its original architecture and spatial significance.

The design concept proposes a discreet architectural intervention, with all new functions located at an underground level, ensuring that the visual dominance of the historic building remains uncompromised. This approach preserves the synagogue’s authentic character and its perception within the urban context.

The underground level is designed as an exhibition area connected to the Samokov Historical Museum, with natural daylight provided through an open terrace and a landscape-integrated connection to the surrounding site.
