"Konaka" museum is the central part of the Regional Museum of History in Vidin and it is an Architectural Monument of Culture of Local importance. It was built in the 18 c. as a Police station. After the establishment of the Bulgarian Exarchy in 1870 it was given to the Church Community in Vidin. After the Liberation the building was reconstructed and enriched with elements from Bulgarian Renaissance architecture. During that time it housed the Municipal administration and was the place where the decisions about the European modernization of the town were made. Since 1956 "Konaka" is a Museum where visitors can learn a lot about the rich history of the region from the Antiquity to the Russo-Turkish Liberation war (1877-1878).
